It’s been said that the doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live. I’d say it’s the other way around: Decide the life you want to live and it will help you decide which doors to open and close each day.
Of course, there are situations in life that prevent us from knowing which decision is likely to bring us the best results. While we may not be able to make the best decision, we can make the right decision.
The right decision is always whatever decision will allow you to say, regardless of outcome: “Under the circumstances, based on all the information available to me at the time, I made the best decision I knew how and, therefore, I have no regrets.”
Making “no regrets” decisions makes it possible for us to trust the decisions we make, without wasting precious energy and time on doubting or second-guessing them. Equally important, “no regrets” decisions eliminate any reason to punish yourself if things don’t turn out the way you had hoped or expected.
